Each pouch consists of an inner wallet and an outer cover. The inner wallet contains specially developed crystals which activate when immersed in water, expanding into a gel and remaining cool for up to 45 hours. Simply immerse the inner wallet in water for the time specified on the instructions which can be as little as 5 minutes, then pat the inner wallet dry with a towel and insert it into the outer cover. FRIO wallets have been independently tested and certified regarding their effectiveness. They will keep in-use insulin within safe temperatures of 18-26C (64.4-78.8F) for a minimum of 45 hours, even in a constant environmental temperature of 37.8C (100F).A waterproof liner is recommended if you are using FRIO with metal pens or with any electronic timing device or any accessory with electronic components to protect it from moisture, and also when the wallet is holding EpiPens/allergy pens.
